Hometown Pride

Last week our little town had a lot of excitement when the girl's softball team won the state championship! We should have been there to witness it but were stuck somewhere else (and we totally regret it). Coincidentally, our town had a celebration that evening so it was awesome that the girls made it back to town in time for the parade, riding on top of the firetrucks, their gold medals around their necks and state trophy raised high. What fun to see such pride and support.

Riding around town this week, I realized how many local business had signs up in support of the team, both before and after their big win. Immediately, it reminded me of the movie Elizabethtown. Anyone see it? In the beginning, Orlando Bloom's character returns to his father's hometown after he dies unexpectedly and people are waving to him as if they know them, every business has signs up in memory of his beloved dad. It's a very fun, quirky movie by the way (60B!)

There are a lot of nice things about living in a small town and pulling together during both the good and the more difficult times is definitely one of them.
